A beautiful building that has shaped the minds of many key people in history.

Situated before the Maximilian Bridge and on the banks of river Isar, is a magnificent 18th century building, the Maximilianeum. Owned by the Maximilianeum Foundation, this beautiful building embellished with columns, mosaics, niches filled with busts and arches, was built to house a gifted students’ foundation, supporting exceptional students from Bavaria and the Palatinate. Its world-renown graduates include German Prime Minister Franz Josef Strauss and Nobel laureate Werner Heisenberg.


Since 1949, this magnificent building has also been home to the Bavarian State Parliament. Those interested to see a place that brought forth legends, and the place responsible for the running of Bavaria, the Maximilianeum is the place to go. Remember to bring your camera - the location of the building on the banks of Isar and its magnificence itself provides an incredible photo opportunity.
