Marokopa Falls

Most beautiful waterfall in New Zealand.

Inside the Tawarau Forest lies the Marokopa Falls, a 35 metre high waterfall that plunges into the undercut basement rock below. All it takes is just a short 20 minute walk through the easy Marokopa Falls Walk, which brings visitors through the forests of Tawa and Nikau, before reaching the viewing platform of the magnificent falls. Widely considered to be the most beautiful waterfall in the country, it divides the Marokopa River into two, with trout fishing being a very popular activity along the river. The Marokopa Falls is definitely worth the visit, just for its scenic beauty alone.
