Maria Cristina Falls

The Queen of the City of Majestic Waterfalls.

Situated within the city of Iligan, also known as the ‘City of Majestic Waterfalls’, the impressive Maria Cristina Falls should, in this writer’s humble opinion, be recognised as the rightful queen of all waterfalls in the Philippines. As the second-highest waterfall of the Philippines at an astounding 98-metres in height, the majestic Maria Cristina Falls amazes all visitors with its natural splendour and represents one of the best creations of mother nature.

As the primary source of hydroelectric power for the industries in and around the city, the Maria Cristina Falls powers more than 70% of Mindanao’s electricity, aside from supplying power to Iligan city. The powerful, fast flowing cascade of water makes for an impressive sight to behold for all who visit; the adventurous can even go on a zip-line in an area close to the falls for an exhilarating experience of a lifetime.

Tips Before You Go
Visitors are recommended to visit the falls via private vehicle such as motorbike or car, although the falls can also be accessed via public transport.
Visitors are advised to visit the Maria Cristina Falls on Sundays to witness the true power of the falls, as on other days, the volume of water flowing into the falls from the Agus River is usually controlled for hydroelectric power generation purposes.
