Manzanita Lake

Camp at the most photographed lake in Lassen.

There are indeed so many things to do at Manzanita Lake, with fishing, swimming, kayaking, and sightseeing being some of the more common activities. The largest campground of the Lassen Volcanic National Park is also located here, making this place a very popular camping spot for families. With 179 campsites coupled with readily available amenities, it is no wonder that people often come here just to camp.

Nevertheless, besides camping, Manzanita Lake is also a great place for hiking, with a 2.6-kilometre hiking trail that encircles the lake. Fishing is also permitted here, but be reminded that this area has a catch-and-release policy. This lake also makes a great vantage point for those looking to capture photos of Lassen Peak, the main attraction in this national park. With a wide array of activities offered here, as well as beautiful scenery throughout, Manzanita Lake is undoubtedly worth a visit.

Tips Before You Go
If you’re planning to camp, make sure you have everything you need. There is a small store here that sells camping goods and necessities that you may have forgotten, but they are rather pricey. Remember to bring coins too, because the showers here are coin-operated.
