Not just for manly people.
Captain Arthur Philip named this beach after the manly behaviour displayed by the indigenous people, who were living there back in the day. Today, Manly Beach stands as a popular destination for both locals and tourists. The 30-minute ferry ride will be a prelude to the fun at the beach, so admire the wonderful architecture of the Sydney Opera House on the way. Upon arrival, walk down The Corso, a pedestrian-only strip that serves as the main road. Dozens of shops and restaurants line up the street and you can pick up indigenous art at gift shops before heading to the beach.
Along this seemingly endless stretch of velvet-like sand is where the fun begins. Spend your day basking in the wonderful Sydney sunshine or head into the water to surf the waves. Stretch your legs as you go on Cabbage Tree Bay Eco-Sculpture Walk, gazing at sculptures depicting the history and wildlife found in the area along the way. Shelly Beach, further down the path, will beckon you to dive into the water and snorkel in the lovely cove with its beautiful waters. A day (or two) at this beach will not disappoint!
