Once an Ottoman dynasty era palace grounds.
The Manial Palace, along with its modern day museum, is a former Ottoman-era palace grounds and is situated on Rhoda Island on the Nile in Cairo, Egypt. The compound has been preserved as a historic house museum and estate, showcasing the life and culture of the late 19th and early 20th century Egyptian royalty. The area is made out of five separate and uniquely styled buildings and surrounding it are Persian gardens with an English landscape garden estate park. Visitors walking through here will definitely be whisked away into a whole new world, just like Jasmine when she was swept off her feet by Aladdin. The palace was constructed by Prince Mohammed Ali Tewfik between 1899 and 1929 and he intended for the facade to have an integration of Rococo and European Art Nouveau styling, along with Islamic designs. In doing so, the architecture of the palace grounds is an exotic blend of cultures and designs, making it an absolutely gorgeous work of art. Photos won’t be able to do it justice, but your memory will surely be able to capture the dazzling glamour of its façade. The palace is also home to a wide collection of furniture, ancient manuscripts and other cultural monuments. These can be seen in the museum, which is bound to give you an enriching experience as well about the recent history and culture of Egypt too. If you’ve always been curious about the evolution of Egyptian culture, then the Manial Palace is a must-visit destination.
