Mangunan Fruit Garden

With stunning views, and the chance to get up close with both flora and fauna, this is everything a nature lover could possibly ask for.

Contained within 23.3 hectares is more than you would imagine. Being elevated 250 metres above sea level means that the atmosphere is clean and crisp, a breath of fresh air away from the city. Looking out, you will see the winding River Oyo snaking it’s way between the steep hills, gleaming like a thread of silver among the green. Turn to the south for the best views of Parangtritis Beach and west to see Bantul city in all its glory.

The main draw for most people however, is the variety of fresh fruit that flourishes on the farm. Exotic rarities are cultivated here like the notoriously pungent and spiky durian, the hairy rambutan, the uniquely shaped stairfruit, mangosteen, jack fruit, sapodilla.... the list goes on and on. More familiar favourites like mango and orange also grow here.

Wildlife of the animal variety also inhabit the garden. Monkeys swing through the trees and groom each other by the side of the roads. A cow nursery where these calm creatures are raised and their waste is collected as fertilizer to be used on the farm. This natural cycle is perpetuated in this ecosystem of all things bright and beautiful.
