The bad news is, this is definitely not the ancient Roman gladiator-style battle arena that you are probably thinking of. The good news is that it’s actually much better. Conceived with the help of modern engineering, the Malmö Arena is in fact a multi-use indoor sports arena where you never have to worry about the weather. Inaugurated only in 2008, the Area nonetheless has played host to many big names and performances, making it one of the most prominent indoor arenas in whole of Sweden.

The Arena is also the home of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) ice hockey club the Malmö Redhawks and holds the status as the largest arena in the SHL. The second-largest indoor arena in all Sweden, it also hosts many other sporting events such as floorball and team handball, as well as concerts and many other gigs. With a seating capacity of 13,000 for sporting events and 15,000 for concerts, the arena is the most hype-filled venue in Malmö. A trip there will definitely have you on a slightly dizzy adrenaline high, especially if your trip coincides with a performance or even a SHL game!
