Malibu Lagoon State Beach

Spend your day enjoying all that Mother Nature has to offer.

The Malibu Lagoon State Beach is found at the point where Malibu Creek flows into the ocean, forming the Malibu Lagoon. What awaits is a world of fun, and a retreat into nature that everyone will enjoy. Dirt trails wind around the wetlands, which offer 22 acres of fun while bird watching. There’s over 200 bird species found in this saltwater marsh! From pelicans and gulls to sandpipers, the list goes on. Don’t forget your binoculars!

When you’re not splashing about the water with the kids, hunt for tide pools. Why visit an aquarium when you can get up and close with some of the sea creatures here? Black crabs scurry about and starfish stretch out in the tide pools as your kids peer in and squeal in delight. If all this sounds a tad too boring, join the scores of surfers who hang ten and dance with the waves at the Surfrider Beach, which is world-famous as a surfing destination. If you’re content to explore, head to the Adamson House, which is an iconic example of Spanish Revival architecture from the early 20th century. Regardless of what you choose to do, don’t miss out the fabulous golden glow at sunset!
