Maksimir Park

Get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Makismir Park is the oldest public park in Zagreb, and also one of the most beautiful urban parks in Europe. It is not uncommon to see Croatian families gather here for walks during the weekends, being highly accessible from Jelačić Square. This 18-hectare park is the first of its kind in South-Eastern Europe. Visitors can admire lawns, alleys and its five lakes located within. Kids can enjoy one of Zagreb's best play parks here as well. The Bellevue Pavilion, constructed in 1843, is also the most photographed structure in the park. Other attractions include the Echo Pavilion and a replica of a rustic Swiss cottage. The Zagreb Zoo is also located within the park, boasting more than 275 species of animals!
