The dream of making the Manzanares River an iconic place in Madrid has come true with the help of Madrid Río.
The Madrid Río is a huge park that runs alongside the Manzanares River. Constructed in 2011, this park was made possible after shifting the city’s inner beltway, the M-30, from the banks to the underground. With 17 play areas along the Salón de Pinos, children will be spoilt for choice. There are also multiple bridges that allow you to cross the river; with the most eye-catching one being the Puente Monumental de Arganzuela. Offering 30km of vast grounds, Madrid Río is a perfect place for cycling. Moreover, there are many other sports facilities, including a tennis court, football fields, and even a rock climbing wall! Perhaps the most interesting attraction here would be its man-made urban "beach", constructed due to the lack of beaches in landlocked Madrid. Visitors can head here to bask in the sun during summer time.
