No garden can truly be as colourful and unique as the Jardim Botanico da Madeira, also known as the Madeira Botanical Garden! This vibrant garden was opened to the public in 1960 and it continues to remain a breathtaking and picturesque place home to over 2,000 exotic plants displayed within its vast grounds. Not only is it just a botanical garden, it is also a place for visitors to learn and experience the science behind the plants,through the wide array of plant collections and the colourful flower beds that are simply just stunning. Great efforts are taken to monitor and conserve plants that are becoming extinct.
Take a stroll along the different plant exhibitions displaying all sorts of plant species from across the world such as tiny succulent plants, medicinal plants, agro-industrial plants and not forgetting the rare but well-protected Madeiran plants.
