More than a park.
Hanoi’s Ly Thai To Park is more than just a green space: it is also a memorial to Emperor Ly Thai To. Born in 974, he is famed for having moved the imperial capital from Hoa Lu to present-day Hanoi, triggering the transformation of the city from a small county to Vietnam’s thriving and powerful capital. You can’t miss this park, situated right across the well-known Hoan Kiem Lake, nor the towering statue of Ly Thai To.
If you walk closer, you will find his name inscribed on the pedestal. This massive statue is truly a sight, with the Emperor dressed in intricate robes and a scroll in his hand. When you tire of examining the statue, there’s plenty to do! From inline skating to simply enjoying a relaxing stroll, there’s plenty to do here. From season to season, vibrantly-coloured flowers bloom, clustered together and decorating the natural greenery. Photographers, this is a wonderful spot to capture scenes of daily life, from families and their rambunctious children to adventurous teens trying out their new tricks on skateboards. Ly Thai To Park offers a delightful glimpse into local life!
