Luna Park, Coney Island

An Illuminating Amusement Park.

The Luna Park is an amusement park on Coney Island and the one that stands today pays homage to the 1903 original. One of the earliest roller coasters in the world can be traced back to the park of 1884, which gave rise to a new form of entertainment. In 1903, with the recent innovation of electricity, the park was known as the "Electric Eden", drawing in crowds who came to marvel at its illuminated display of over 250,000 lights. The modern Luna Park that reopened in 2010 brings back a good, old-fashioned thrill, coupled with nostalgia, introducing the Thunderbolt roller coaster, a modern reiteration of the original from 1925. The future of Luna Park is certainly looking brighter than ever.
