Lugu Lake

An oasis of blue in the Kingdom of Women.

Lugu Lake, which flows at the border between Sichuan and Yunnan Provinces. This alpine lake not just breathtaking sceneries but also an introduction to the unique Mosuo culture. Often called the “mother lake” by the Mosuo people, the lake area is inhabited by the people of this matrilineal society.


On good days, it’s almost like the lake holds a mirror world - with the verdant green peaks of the surrounding mountains, and vibrancy of the entire lake area, this area couldn’t be more magical.
