Lucky Bay

40 minutes from the town of Esperance lies one of the finest beaches in Australia.

If you are looking for the perfect place to camp, you are in luck (no pun intended)! Lucky Bay received its unique name in 1802 by navigator Matthew Flinders (1774 – 1810), who sought shelter on this bay from a summer storm while sailing through a dangerous route. Located within the Cape Le Grand National Park, Lucky bay is rated to have one of the best beaches in the country. Its pristine white sands, crystal clear water and excellent swimming conditions make for a perfect getaway. The beach is so comfortable that wild kangaroos can sometimes be seen lazing on it! For campers, the camping site provides a stunning view over the bay, and also offers picnic areas as well as environmentally-friendly solar-heated shower facilities. Alternatively, embark on a coastal bush walk where lucky ones might even chance upon migrating whales!
