Louis II Stadium

A stylish place to catch a football game.

Just like everything else in Monaco, this stadium is swanky and luxurious. Covering over 30,000 square metres, it’s a huge arena and completely unlike any other sporting experience you’ll ever witness. It’s also known as the Stade Louis II, a name that adds to the air of style that the actual building already possesses. From the outside, you may not even realize that it’s a stadium: its façade is made up of several residential blocks that cleverly conceal the football pitch within. There are no towering grandstands within, but nine elegant standalone arches at one end of the stadium offer resplendent views of the Mediterranean Sea and the jagged cliff faces behind. Not your typical stadium look, but when the result is so pleasing, it can hardly go wrong. And this is just one aspect of the stadium’s entirely unique design. The football pitch is actually poised exactly 8.35 metres above the road level, and situated on top of the car park. The stadium has previously been graced with big games such as the Manchester City in the quarter finals of the Champions’ League, an elite experience magnified by the pleasing aesthetic of the stadium. Whether you’re a football fan or a tourist visiting for fun, there’s no doubt you’ll find something to admire.
