Lone Cypress

The one and (l)onely cypress tree in Pebble Beach.

There are so many things to do around Pebble Beach – golfing, visiting spas, and let’s not forget, getting a photo of the Lone Cypress which sits on a granite hillside. This lonely tree is an icon, and is considered to be one of the most photographed trees in North America. At over 250 years old, the tree is so popular that it has even been trademarked by its landowner! The Lone Cypress is located in between the Cypress Point Golf Course and the Pebble Beach Golf Links, and can be seen down the 17-Mile Drive. Visitors regularly stop by the 17-Mile Drive to admire the tree and get their photos taken. Scarred by a fire previously, the tree is now held by wires and a retaining wall to keep it in place. It has withstood the test of time, and seen scores of visitors come and go. Perhaps it’s now your turn to pay it a visit.

Tips Before You Go
If you’re not going as part of a tour and decide to drive there yourself, do note that parking spaces are limited! It is possible to walk there too, but it is recommended that you go early in the morning if you plan to walk, since you will be sharing the road with vehicles.
