Lofotr Viking Museum

Experience what is means to be a Viking.

If you have a soft spot for Viking culture, and are keen to learn more, then look no further than the Lofotr Viking Museum. After excavations that took place in the 1980s, the largest Viking house in Europe was discovered. Now, you can see the reconstructed home, which used to belong to a Viking chieftain, divided into different areas.

The living quarters with a fireplace in the middle, the lobby with a north and a south entrance, the great hall with a high seat and artefacts such as drinking glasses, and the byre, where animals were kept. Want to eat like a Viking? You’re in luck, as the museum regularly hosts Viking feasts, serving up delicacies such as Lamb soup and Viking bread. Not forgetting, during the summer, live like a Viking and row a ship and even partake in some bow and arrow practice! For a truly immersive Viking experience, visit the Lofotr Viking Museum in Lofoten, Norway.
