Lion’s Head

Named after its unique lion head shape, come and see what’s so spectacular about this mountain.

Have a look at Cape Town’s mesmerising horizon and you will see the “Lion’s Head”, an eye-catching mountain that belongs right here in Cape Town. Known to boast the best views in Cape Town, you must head here to experience it yourself!

Possessing the best views and even a relatively easy climb up to the 669-metre peak, the Lion’s Head is a mountain that many flood here to climb. Taking you only approximately 2 to 3 hours to complete, start your trek here at whatever time you desire. Offering two routes, both routes are rather simple, requiring no prior experience in climbing! The first being the easiest, turn left when you reach the sign, signifying two different paths. A direct path up, requiring just you, your legs and determination, you are close to the finale of this climb! The other route requires a little more from you. The chain ladder route will have you on the edge, literally! Holding on to the chain ladder, make your way along the uneven and narrow route, all the way to the top. A most rewarding climb, the views you get once you’re up are truly the best reward. Seeing even the famous Twelve Apostles from here, the view of Cape Town is gorgeous at dawn or at night.
