Lindøya Island

Feel the great outdoors in this small island.

Located within the Oslofjord, Lindøya Island presents itself as giving visitors a taste of the quiet life. In fact, it is a far cry from the busy city of Oslo. As you disembark on the island, you will be greeted by a sea of green, red and yellow. While this might remind you of a traffic light, it is actually the majority of the colours of the 300 cottages on the island. The myriad of bright colours will make for a lovely backdrop for your photographs though, so photography enthusiasts will surely love it. Swimmers will be glad to learn that on the southwest part of the island, you can find some great places to swim, including the swimming stadium that has been functioning since 1949. For those who would like a dose of nature, you can head to the northern part of the island. This is where you can observe the stunning, unadulterated wildlife in all of their glory. If you’re looking for a place to unwind, then there’s no better destination than Lindøya Island.

Tips Before You Go
Note that no camping or lighting of fires is allowed on the island. Not that you would need to do such a thing anyway. If you feel like answering nature’s call, just be warned that the public toilets here are few and far in between. In fact, even places to sit down and relax are rare here. Perhaps you really might need to rely on nature for this one. The swimming stadium should have all these amenities however.
