Lashi Lake

A delightful Wetland nature reserve.

The story of Lashi Lake first begins some 134 to 70 million years ago in the Mesozoic Age, when the lake was part of the ancient geosynclinals. Eventually, the changing mountain ranges resulted in the change to a plain, and the largest of three basins formed holds the Lashi Lake. As you view the lake today, you will be treated to the sight of this stunning lake, with the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in the background, forming near perfect reflections in the still surface of the water.

Well, if you're a bird-watcher, the scenery won't be the only thing you can enjoy here: in December, scores of birds migrate to the lake to escape the unforgiving cold of winter, and brighten up the lake with their constant chirping and playful ways. Among the numerous species of birds that fly here annually, rare and endangered species of birds like the Chinese Merganser and the black-necked crane can also be found. Try your hand at boating as you traverse the peaceful lake, and snap photos of the many birds flying about in the lake. Being so close to nature can only be therapeutic, and we promise that the experience will be absolutely unforgettable!

For those of you who want to explore the area in a different way, you can enjoy a horse ride along the Ancient Tea Horse Road, which was an important trading route in this part of China, much like the Silk Road.
