Lake Eola Park

A lookout into Orlando’s citadel of steel and glass.

At the intersection of Orlando’s main shopping districts and the financial hub of the city lies Lake Eola Park. In an area overrun with Disney themed attractions, Lake Eola is a much needed respite from the fanfare by creating a no-frills green space to take a breather. Swans glide over the central lake as though it were mirrored ice, drifting alongside their mechanical counterparts moving along as a result of the gentle paddling of those seated within it. Swan shaped paddleboats aside, a ring of gravel encircles the lake for a shaded walk and aimless stroll within the city center. Should you stay till dusk, allow your feet to lead you to a slightly out of place Chinese Pagoda by the waters’ edge. Beneath the oriental trim, the Orlanda skyline is a million mirrors reflecting an endless tunnel of lights from across. The night settles in and the lake’s surface bursts into action as a choreographed musical show is executed over Lake Eola Fountain. The neon lights dance off the glass panes of the skyscrapers in the background, drawing in the entire Orlando skyline into the show. An unconventional break and a spot to catch your breath, Lake Eola is a great way to simply while away your time.
