La Specola (The Museum of Zoology and Natural History)

The oldest scientific museum in Europe.

La Specola is a natural history museum, with deep roots in history that traces back to the 1700s. It is famous for its wax anatomical models, particularly those of the Roman god of love, Venus, as well as other models of nude women in somewhat erotic poses, with their guts exposed to public. The museum is often overlooked by tourists despite its standing as the oldest scientific museum in Europe. It is also well-known for its realistic copies of the human body, which were modeled after actual corpses.
