La Ponta – Venetian Tower

Situated in the castle of Akrotiri and boasting beautiful scenic views over the island!

La Ponta is nestled within a 13th century Venetian tower in the castle of Akrotiri. It offers stunning aerial views over the surrounding island and is about 1km above the prehistoric archaeological area of Akrotiri, Santorini. The tower is famous for its tsabouna exhibition and other traditional percussion instruments and flutes. The tsabouna is a Greek folk wind instrument belonging to the bagpipe family. The workshop La Ponta offers demonstrates how the tsabouna is made along with other traditional Greek instruments.

Perhaps you may wish to purchase other hand-made instruments, books and rare artefacts which can be found in the shop. If you wish, you may attend the musical and historical guided tours within the building as well as evening concerts - all of which were initiated to promote the cultural identity of Greece La Ponta!
