In the Cordillera Real mountain range in Bolivia, right on the border between Bolivia and Chile, stands the Kunturiri massif. This majestic group of mountains takes the shape of the fearsome condor. If you look at it from Lake Ch’iya Quta, you’ll find that the mountain in the middle looks like a condor’s head, while the two shorter peaks flanking it resemble wings just about to take flight.

Scaling the Kunturiri massif is a strenuous challenge, designed for those who want to push themselves to the limit and indulge their inner adventurer. A five-day hike will take you to the peak, a dizzying 5648 metres above sea level. You’ll brave multiple types of terrain, from sparse shrubland at the base to snowy rocks nearer the top. Of course, you’ll be rewarded with amazing views of calm lakes and snow-covered mountain sides at the top, as well as a sense of accomplishment you’ll remember for life.
