Kunstmuseum Basel

Have your mind broadened by this famed collection of art.

Kunstmusuem is the home of the fine arts in the city of Basel, and is a must-see for all lovers of culture and beautiful aesthetics. Even if you do not profess to be one, the beautiful architecture and thoughtfully curated exhibits of the museum will turn you into one before you leave. From afar, the museum’s newest wing looks like a futuristic installation: all sharp angles, smooth surfaces and LED displays at night. Yet the interior of the museum itself contains much more than just modern art, with displays dating back to the Amerbach Cabinet (a collection of works by famed artist Hans Holbein) in 1661. Ever since then, its exhibits have been notable for their wide historical spectrum, ranging from the 15th century all the way down to the present day. So take a trip down to the Kunstmuseum, and enjoy one of the most iconic aesthetic experiences the city has to offer.

Tips Before You Go
There is such an overwhelmingly large amount of art that it may not be possible to have a fruitful visit within a short period of time, so if you are pressed for time do plan your visit and decide what to see beforehand! It would also help if you don’t stay for too long at particular exhibits. Quickly have a look and carry on.
