Krka National Park

Initially built to preserve the Krka River, this park has now made a name for itself.

Known to be one of the most beautifully untouched national parks in Croatia, the Krka Natioal Park surely does not disappoint for it offers a mystical wonderful mountains, waterfalls, rivers and gorges - all of which have been painstakingly preserved for its ecosystems. Named after the Krka river located within, the Krka National Park is located a few kilometers from the city of Šibenik. Visitors coming to the park will be awed by the crashing waterfalls, which includes the famous Skradinski Buk Falls, one of Croatia’s top tourist sites. The Skradinski Buk waterfalls are a series of 17 waterfalls of over 45 meters in height.

Unlike other national parks around the world, Krka National Park provides boat excursions that run through the area so that visitors can see more of the park in comfort. Through the boat ride, one would also be able to witness the sacred island of Visovac, which was once home to Franciscan monks in 1445, where a monastery was also built. Today, ancient relics from the monastery have been well-preserved in a well-kempt library too. Another noteworthy attraction includes the stunning Roški Slap - a series of 12 waterfalls, with the highest one being 22 meters in height and an astounding 60 metres in width. As such, one should definitely enjoy the breathtaking sceneries of the Krka National Park and perhaps even seize the chance to take a dip in its clear, cerulean waters as swimming is also permitted at this park!
