A perfect day out for everyone, especially for kids, when you visit the wonderful zoo of Kraków.

Deep in the heart of the Wolski forest is the Kraków Zoo, which houses an impressive 1500 animals of around 300 species. Covering an impressive area of 17 hectares, the zoo was first opened in 1929 and most of its exhibits are set in the natural surroundings of the forest. You will get to see all kinds of rare and exotic animals such as the pygmy hippopotami, dwarf caimans, Humboldt penguins, Przewalski horses, Somali wild ass and even Père David's deer if you were to visit. Kids will be absolutely delighted to see their favourite little furry animals at the petting zoo. This zoo is definitely a great place to have a picnic amidst its scenic environment as well. As you can see, there is something for everyone here, regardless of your interests.

Tips Before You Go
While you might be tempted to visit the zoo in winter when the climate’s cooler, you should take note that the animals will be in hiding as well, due to the cold. Visit during the summer instead, and most of the animals should be out and about.
