A beautifully decorated theater hosting world class concerts, cabarets and musicals.
The Koninklijk Theater Carré, or Royal Theater Carré in English, is a spectacularly decorated Neo-Renaissance theater situated near the river Amstel in Amsterdam city. Originally intended as a circus building by German circus director Oscar Carré in 1887, the building gained recognition and fame for its popular Vaudeville shows by Dutch theatre producer Frits van Haarlem over the subsequent years and later became officially known as Theater Carré in 1920.
Today, this historic building hosts world class performances ranging from concerts to operas, cabarets and musicals and is arguably one of the best theaters in the Netherlands. The theater is also a major player in the business market and hosts a variety of business events such as conferences, product presentations and premieres each year. In 2004, the Koninklijk Theater Carré was completely renovated to accommodate for better seating and quality of experience, although the historic façade and interior design have been retained to preserve the theater’s beautiful, historic architecture.
