The ruins of the Sun Temple make a beautiful, sacred pilgrimage site.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the ruins of the Sun Temple is an incredibly beautiful site that one should not miss out on. The stunning complex is a high chariot with gargantuan wheels and horses, crafted out of stone - a feat in itself.
Although most of the temple has fallen into great ruin, what remains showcase incredibly intricate artwork, iconography and themes. Check out the remaining Dancing Hall surrounded by several figures, intricately carved to be playing various musical instruments, peppering the walls. Even though the reason why this beautiful temple fell into ruin is surrounded with rumours and controversy with no concrete answer, it remains today as a sacred site for pilgrimages by thousands of Indian devotees annually.
