Attending an event in Miami? Chances are it’s gonna be held here, at the most popular entertainment venue in the area. Right smack in the centre of downtown Miami, just miles from the Airport, its location has contributed to its success.

The centre is renowned for its incredible flexibility, able to adapt to any kind of event under the sun. With 34 meeting rooms, a 444 seater auditorium, 117 seater lecture hall, 4,650 seater theatre all equipped with plushy seats, fully integrated professional sound systems with turnkey capabilities, state of the art lighting and high-speed wifi, there is nothing that it can’t handle. Originally meant to be an exhibition hall for business conventions in the 80s, the venue was not an instant hit and struggled to earn revenue. In a big break, the decline of the Miami Beach Convention Center meant that it was the perfect opportunity for this complex to swoop in and steal the show. Famous newspaper publisher James L. Knight donated over one million dollars to the arena for the University of Miami to use for its basketball program, so the centre was named after him as a thank you.

Since then, the centre has branched out to a number of larger conventions. For example, it has seen the world’s most beautiful in the Miss Universe in 1984 and 85 and Miss USA in 1986, hosted the Miami Hurricanes men’s basketball team, the Clash of the Champions wrestling and two R.E.M.s concerts just to name a few.
