Widely known as one of the filming locations for the immensely popular TV series 'Game of Thrones', Klis Fortress is known to be the fictional city of Meeren. In reality, this fortress is located at the centre of the hillside village of Klis, which is within the mountainous regions of Mosor and Kozjak. Steeped in history, the village of Klis was a significant medieval fortress that has been around for over 2,000 years and is deemed to be an important site for the village of Klis.

One could admire the grand fortifications that has miraculously survived the ages, as well as head to the small museum that details aspects of the castle’s past.
