An unexpected vista of green within a city packed with people, buildings and vehicles like a sardine can, the KLCC Park is a much-needed respite in the area for a breather.
If you’ve been sight-seeing around Kuala Lumpur, you’ve probably already faced the blaring horns on the street, tinkling bells of street vendors and a miscellaneous assortment of sounds rising to create a cacophony even in the most secluded alleyways. In that case, the KLCC Park was constructed just for you, located at the feet of the iconic Twin Towers of Kuala Lumpur.
Constructed to serve as a tree-lined enclave away from the bustling city streets and chaos, the park has quickly risen to become one of the most popular attractions of the city. Stroll through the paved walkways cutting through groves filled with trees from 74 indigenous species, most with wide canopies and dense crowns to offer shade and shelter from the unrelenting heat. As is typical of most city parks, sculpted statues in metal of whales frozen mid-leap and other such interpretive installations add a touch of synthetic beauty to the space. Mirthful laughter accompanies the unrestrained joy of children as they run amok the countless slides, rope obstacles and monkey bars of the 2 acre wide children’s playground. Yet even this pales in size as compared to the artificial Lake Symphony. A meek, reflective pool for the most part of the day, the lake erupts in a fountain of gushing water with spraying jets and colorful lights in sync with the upbeat tunes that escape into the still park air for the daily water shows.
