Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden

The most spectacular botanical garden in the world.

Set against the backdrop of the majestic Table Mountain is the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, known for being one of the greatest gardens in the world. Boasting 528 hectares of plant life and the title of UNESCO World Heritage Site, it’s not hard to see why the garden has captured the hearts of locals and tourists alike.

One of the best things to do here is take a stroll on the canopy walkway, which brings you level with the topmost leaves on the regal trees so you can enjoy panoramic views. There’s also a splendid Protea garden that bursts into an effusion of bright pink and orange every spring. You can involve your other senses as well, with a medicinal and fragrance garden full of interesting sights and smells for you to enjoy.

You don’t even have to leave the park for lunch, as you can pack a picnic to enjoy on its sprawling lawns. The African-themed Moyo Restaurant or Kirstenbosch Tea Room are also on hand to satiate your hunger.
