This state park is most famous for its hiking trails that not only let your stretch your legs but provide a series of the most iconic views of LA as you go along. Pick any direction and still be rewarded; north takes you to the world recognised Hollywood Sign, East to the San Gabriel Mountains, South East to the Santa Ana Mountains, South to the harbour, Southwest to Santa Monica Bay and the expansive Pacific Ocean and finally, west to the Satan Monica Mountains. It’s no question why this hike is a go to for everybody who’s stopping by, as it’s the most time efficient way to maximise the finest that LA has to offer.

The trails would be enough for most people, but the park doesn’t stop there, stocked picnic grounds, playgrounds, a basketball court, a sports field, a volleyball court and much much more in terms of recreation. For some scenic pleasure, the lovely Doris’ Japanese Garden features ponds festooned with lily pads and interrupted by arching bridges, as well as a trickling stream and cascading waterfall that instills a sense of zen. The lake is chock full with trout and catfish, and many people cast their line into the water in the hopes of catching one of these inhabitants. Other wildlife that call this park home are cunning foxes, sweet cottontail rabbits, mischievous raccoons and the smelly skunk! Over 41 species of bird are waiting to be watched by avid bird watchers.
