This seaside park has anything you could ever need for an easy getaway trip to spend some quality time with the family. The highly accessible roads are just the start of this relaxing trip, which is perfect for a quick break during the holidays. In the middle of the woods, people are encouraged to be at one with nature and live the simple life, with 300 campsites equipped with RVs, tents and rustic cabin camping as the main form of accommodation.

The park has had a long history of being a camping ground for people, as it used to be a beach community exclusively reserved for African Americans when racial discrimination was rife in the early 1900s. In 1967 it adopted the name Kathryn Abbey Hanna, a tribute to the long-time member of the Parks and Historical Places Board, at the insistence of a Winthrop Bancroft, who donated land to the park. Totalling at 447 acres, there’s plenty of space to find your own private camping spot and settle down among the coastal hammock, a rare find in Florida nowadays.

Crisscrossed with bike trails, cycling is a major activity, while shuffleboarding and volleyball courts are also available. For aqua-lovers, kayaking, fishing, canoeing and paddle boating is a pleasurable way to pass the time at the nearby lakeside. Finally, with all the typical amenities expected of a camping ground - barbecue pits, playgrounds, picnic tables and so on - you’ll leave with a head full of nostalgic memories of quality time spent with your loved ones.
