Kane’ohe Bay

This bay is the stuff of movies – literally!

Nothing proves that somewhere has beautiful scenery quite like being the chosen location for the filming of blockbuster Hollywood movies. This bay has been the setting for Pirates of the Caribbean, Gulliver’s Travels, and Pearl Harbour, chosen for its classic postcard worthy image of gorgeous tropical beaches - sand the purest white, seas the bluest blue and skies in which the brilliant sun is surrounded by pillowy clouds.

The huge reef with crystal clear water means that the myriad of colours on the seabed created by the coral, seashells and shoals of fish invites you to take a ride in one of the glass-bottomed boats. Alternatively, grab a canoe and hit the waters yourself to get your arms moving. There are a total of five islets within they bay, the most popular of which are the Chinaman’s Hat and Coconut Island. The sandbar in the centre of the bay, Ahu o Laka, attracts hordes of tourists who set up barbecue pits and cook up a feast in the ultimate setting of leisure and relaxation.
