Kanching Rainforest Waterfall

A great way to cool down on a hot day and to get in that daily exercise.

Kanching Rainforest Waterfall is located in the Kanching Recreational Forest; a large forest reserve in a district just north of Kuala Lumpur. Its proximity to the city makes it a popular getaway for weekenders looking for a break from the heat of the day, and it’s typical for families to head out there and spend some time picnicking and taking a refreshingly chilling dip in the natural pools.

The area is also a good place for a leisurely hike. For the enthusiastic, there are trails that lead uphill and towards more private and pure waterfalls. Many don’t make the trek all the way up to the best spots because the trail becomes less well-trodden and can be cumbersome for children. For ease of reference, the area and the falls have been divided into various “levels”, with an increasing number signifying a harder terrain and longer climb to traverse through to get to the respective areas. So if you’re planning to go there for some quiet and peace, consider making it all the way to the top. It’ll be worth it as you can enjoy the sight of water streaming down these magnificent falls in an environment lush with greenery.

Tips Before You Go
Wear comfortable shoes and bring food and water. You’ll encounter local wildlife (the monkeys can be especially cheeky) as this is their home, so be mindful of that during your visit.
