Kabelvåg

Immerse yourself in this peaceful village.

Ever wanted to gain a more rural experience of Norway? If that sounds like something you want to do, visit the village of Kabelvåg, located on the island of Austvågøya. Founded by King Øystein Magnusson in the 12th century, this village was initially named Vågan.

Be prepared to be charmed at this quaint village, with a land area of 1.18 km2 and a population of less than 2000 people. For many years, this has been an important place for cod fisheries, as the drying and salting of fish for preservation was done here, amongst other Lofoten islands. A lovely village that is home to a trade uniquely theirs, with warm locals, Kabelvåg sounds like an absolute dream for a holiday. Come and enjoy the lush greenery and picturesque coast of Kabelvåg.
