Jerusalem, Israel
Judean Hills

Full of attractions, see the site where the famous fight between David and Goliath took place about 3000 years ago.

The Judaean Hills is a mountain range of around 1026m in height, rich in archaeological sites and natural wonders. From caves to riverbeds, tombs to monasteries and churches to shrines, the breath-taking landscape is dotted with attractions. Some recommended highlights include a visit to the wonderful Beit Guvrin–Maresha National Park where you can see the caves that Bar Kochba’s comrades hid in the uprising against the Romans, or take part in the archaeological digs at Beit Guvrin.

Another novel way to explore the Judaean Hills is to take an Israel Wine Tour and visit some of the award winning wineries. Fancy shopping for some fine goat cheese to go with the bottles of wine you might have bought? Visit the Har HaRuach Goat Farm for premium quality cheese, and then find a nice spot on the Judaean Hills for a picnic as you watch the sun go down.

Tips Before You Go
While you can definitely try to hike across the mountain range, you should only attempt to do so if you are at the peak of physical fitness. A safer alternative would be to participate in the jeep tours, which will ferry you across the landscape to the various landmarks. Just remember to bring plenty of water, as the heat can get rather unbearable during the day.
