Jinma Biji Historic Site

Kunming’s iconic landmark.

Situated in the heart of Kunming city in Yunnan, China, the Jinma Biji Historic Site is often touted as one of the most iconic landmarks of the city, with its magnificent and elaborately decorated gateways and popular pedestrian street. The red-roofed gateways are brilliantly constructed, and symbolically represented by two different animals: the Golden Horse arch in the east and the Jade Rooster arch to the west. Both are very picturesque, and are definitely Insta-worthy.

Culture vultures and shopaholics will love strolling down the traditional pedestrian street at the Jinma Biji Historic Site, flanked on both sides by local vendors calling out their wares, which include a variety of handmade souvenirs such as the regional handicrafts, as well as other commodities such as tea leaves. At night, the area lights up prettily, making for a magical and beautiful sight amidst the vibrant and lively local atmosphere.
