Jim Thompson House

The historic home of a great man.

When in Bangkok, make a visit to the Jim Thompson House, former home of Jim Thompson, which currently serves as a museum for his spectacular art collection. Completed in 1959, the house is a combination of six Thai-style houses, with curved roof edges similar to temples. Jim Thompson was a man of great achievement, well-known as the “Legendary American of Thailand", mainly due to his contributions in jumpstarting the Silk industry and creating global demand for this commodity. His own end is shrouded in mystery, as he went for a walk in the jungle of the Cameron Highlands in 1967, but never returned. Today, you can appreciate the sculptures, paintings, porcelain, and many other beautiful artworks in this grand house - a testament to its accomplished owner.
