As America’s leading pioneer research facility and NASA field centre, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory carries out routine robotic explorations of the solar system and conducts Earth Science and astronomy missions. Since its founding, the laboratory has executed several monumental Earth Science missions including America’s first Earth orbiting Science satellite and first interplanetary mission to the planets of Venus, Mars and Mercury (Mariner missions). Current major active projects include the Mars Science Laboratory mission, the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity, and many more, all of which continue to showcase the Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s reputation as an excellent, world class centre in innovative space and planetary exploration.
