Jeongbang Falls (정방폭포)

Stop by one of Jeju’s most scenic spots.

This waterfall is so stunning that it would be a crime not to visit it on your trip to Jeju Island. Considered one of the top three waterfalls on the island, the Jeongbang Falls, this is perhaps the only waterfall in Asia that falls straight into the ocean.

You may notice an inscription “Seobulgwacha” beside the waterfall. There is a rather fascinating tale behind it, whether or not it is a fact is unconfirmed. Supposedly, Chinese Emperor Jin (259 BC - 210 BC) sent his servant Seobul to find herbs of immortality, who encountered these falls along his journey, and left his signature here. While the signature no longer remains, the story is a testament to the breath taking waterfalls, a place that commands you to stop and stare.
