Sirmione, Italy
Jamaica Beach

Not exactly the typical white sandy beach, but no less a seaside oasis perfect for enjoying the sun and the ocean.

The very tip of the Sirmione peninsula sees the Grotte di Catullo, ruins of an ancient Roman villa on the top of a cliff, lookout out over the great Lake Garda. Beneath these ruins lies the wild and beautiful Jamaica Beach, an outcropping of rocks that jut out into the emerald green waters. The water at this point is shallow and calm, ideal for kids to wade and splash around in.

Walk up to the Catullo Caves and then down the trail to this hidden beach. After arriving what you want to do is up to you - lounge in the sun on the “beach”, navigate the rocky terrain or have a tasty aperitif or refreshing drink at the bar while letting your eyes hungrily take in the panoramic view of snow capped mountains. You can even bring a snorkel, or rent one, and submerge yourself in the cool freshwater lake to escape the heat. Grab a picnic mat, prepare your favourite snacks and enjoy a meal with a view, backed by lush greenery and the freedom of the open lake in front of you. In the evening, melancholy music drifts up from the harbour to act as background tunes to the stunning sunset that colours the sky.
