Dragon’s mountain.
Featuring an icy ridge of 13 snow-capped mountains and fog-enlaced peaks, the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (or Yulong mountains) is so named for its striking resemblance to a silver-white dragon when observed from a distance. Spanning an impressive 35-kilometres in length, with its highest peak (Shanzidou) reaching an airy altitude of 5,596-metres in height, this majestic mountain range is the southernmost glacier in the Northern Hemisphere, and is situated in Yunnan province, China.
The Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is home to a variety of exotic, endangered species of flora and fauna – an ideal attraction for nature lovers and hiking aficionados alike. Three cable cars operate along the mountain and bring visitors to different scenic locations: the most popular cable car ride brings visitors to the Glacier Park, renowned for its breath-taking vistas from an incredible vantage point of 4,680-metres; another cable car ride brings visitors to Spruce Meadow, a gorgeous hidden meadow surrounded by lofty spruces and peaceful forest scenery; the third cable car ride brings visitors to Yak Meadow, a beautiful area near the peaks where visitors can admire the stunning panoramas as well as the several yaks which graze on the grassy highlands. Other highlights in the region include Ganhaizi Meadow, White River (Blue Moon Valley), as well as the Impression Lijiang Show, an exciting outdoor singing and dancing performance by the local ethnic community.
