The Jackson Gleason Theatre was put on the map when the comedian that it commemorates in its tile performed for Frank Sinatra and his crew in this very room in 1964. He fell in love with the Miami audience, and agreed to make the theatre the permanent filming studio for his TV show. That very same year, it had already been deemed worthy to host the legendary Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants, and also went on to be the prime venue for a series of iconic broadway shows including the much talked about West Side Story.
