The International Museum of the Reformation in Geneva, Switzerland, was erected in 2005, with the purpose of explaining the Reformation of the Christian faith that was occurring centuries before. Sparked off by Martin Luther and continued on by others including John Calvin, the Reformation is a very significant slice of European history. In fact, the museum is so culturally important that it was handed the Council of Europe Museum Prize in 2007. Utilizing artefacts, books, manuscripts, paintings and other objects, this museum traces the history of the Reformation, documenting its rise in popularity and its current state. Step into the Music Room and listen to the angelic voices and instruments heard in that time, or head to the Barbier-Mueller Room, whereby you can learn more about conflict that arouse because of the movement, including the St Bartholomew’s Day Massacre. The International Museum of the Reformation – a great place for some fascinating knowledge on this contentious movement.
