Ingierstrand Beach

At Ingierstrand Beach, it’s a diving good time for your entire family.

A mere 25-minute drive from downtown Oslo along the coastal way will take you to the special Ingierstrand Beach. Boasting golden sand, cozy grass and large flagstones (that are surprisingly comfortable to lie down on) where you can relax and sunbathe under the lovely Norwegian sun, this beach is truly a family spot.

Ingierstrand Beach’s highlight however is its iconic diving platform. You heard us right! The diving platform here has various heights, with 10 metres being the highest. Designed in 1931 by architects Ole Lind Schistad and Eyvind Moestue, the diving tower incorporates a peculiar form of architecture known as Functionalism, also known as “funkis”, that is native to Scandinavian countries. Operating on the principle that buildings should be built solely based on their purpose, you’ll find many facilities at the beach showcasing funkis influences with their flat-roofs and well-lit interiors.

There is no need to worry about where to shower, eat or park as the beach is well-organised with these amenities. Public transport is also available for those without a private vehicle and even takes you all the way to Oslo should you need to.
